Regattas with traditional wooden boats, the "bots" and "llaüts" and also the "gussis", even the "pasteres" have been documented in Mallorca since the mid-19th century, but certainly since ancient times, by one or another. For this reason, fishermen and merchants raced their boats with the aim of reaching the shore first. During the first third of the 20th century, the official competitions organized in the Bay of Palma were carried out with traditional wooden rigs because it was the only fleet they had at their disposal. In addition, they used the Latin rig because it is the typical of the artisan boat of almost the entire Mediterranean. more
